Privacy policy
This policy describes the information used to operate StreetUpper and the choices available to members.
Last updated: 18 September 2026Information we process
Account and profile information, opportunity content, messages, Deal Room records, support requests, moderation records, and technical security data may be processed to provide and protect the service.
Audience analytics
StreetUpper records page visits, a temporary browser-session identifier, signed-in member status, visit time, page path, and approximate country, region, and city supplied by the hosting network. It also records browser-reported loading timings — such as DNS, connection and TLS time, first byte, first and largest visible content, and completed loading — plus the effective connection type when available. These performance measurements are used in aggregate to diagnose speed. IP addresses are not stored in the analytics table. Age is never inferred: members may optionally provide only an age group, which is used in aggregated statistics and is not shown publicly.
Account responsibility and version records
StreetUpper stores the selected account type, the organisation name and representative role where applicable, and the member’s confirmation that a real person is responsible for the account. Legal name and representative role remain private unless the member separately chooses matching public information. When a published opportunity is edited, StreetUpper retains prior content, edit time, change type, and changed-field labels for safety, transparency, and dispute handling. Public version history does not display the editor’s account email or raw archived content.
Deal protection records
For Deal Rooms, StreetUpper records the Deal ID, participants, term versions, proposals, acceptances, timestamps and deal-protection acknowledgements. These records are used to operate the negotiation, prevent fraud and circumvention, calculate an applicable platform fee, and handle disputes or legal claims. They are not public and are retained only for as long as required for those purposes and applicable legal obligations.
Profile message requests
A reviewed member who chooses to appear in People search may receive a private initial message request through the profile. The recipient must accept it before a conversation opens. Up to 10 new conversation requests may be created in 24 hours; this does not limit messages after acceptance. Requests and messages stay inside StreetUpper, do not reveal account contact details, and can be declined, blocked, or reported.
Conversation and Deal Room safeguards
Opportunity conversations begin in an exploration stage. StreetUpper records each member’s separate choice to continue and opens the Deal Room only after both choices are present. Submitted text is automatically checked for patterns resembling phone numbers, email addresses, social handles, external links and payment identifiers. A blocked attempt creates a limited security event containing the member, conversation or Deal Room reference, and time; the rejected text is not stored as a sent message. These signals help moderation but do not prove that external communication or a transaction occurred.
Purposes
Data is used for account access, publication and discovery, protected communication, moderation, fraud prevention, support, service operation, and legal compliance.
Visibility and public identity
Protected identity is the default: other members see a unique StreetUpper code instead of the legal name. A member may choose a reviewed public display name and separately decide whether the profile appears in People search. Legal names are not used in public search. Hiding a profile from People search does not hide the member’s published opportunities or the profile link available from them. The legal account name, email, telephone and other private contact details are not made public by these choices. Private messages and support requests are not public.
Identity and documents
Identity verification and document review will apply only when the relevant feature is activated. Members should not place identification numbers, bank details, or confidential documents in public fields.
Retention and rights
Information is retained only as needed for the service, security, disputes, and legal duties. Members may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability where applicable through Support.
Sharing and security
Data may be handled by necessary hosting, authentication, storage, communication, security, and professional service providers under appropriate safeguards. StreetUpper does not sell personal data.
